In Writing Workshop, we will continue with our first unit of study called 'personal narrative'. Student will try the craft moves used by their favorite authors. They will learn to write their story with a good beginning, middle, and end.



In Reading workshop students will take note of how their characters respond to an event, or problem by looking for
-What the character says?
-How the character acts?
- How the character feels?
The young readers will learn that different characters respond to the same event in different ways based on their character traits.



In Math students will be work on
  • the meaning of most, fewest, altogether
  • counting by 5s, 10s, 25s and 100s
  • temperature
  • adding and subtracting 9



In STEM students will continue to investigate and answer the following focus question – What is the meaning of rigid, flexible, pointy, hard, soft & transparent? They will build a tower using a variety of solid objects.

Week of September 24-27, 2019

  • Reading on Razkids and completing the quiz at the end

Writing Workshop
We are in our first unit of study called 'personal narrative' and are looking at developing small moment stories. Students will identify one thing to write about. They will keep the narrative in one place and one time. In order to expand their writing students will try different ways to hook their reader.


Reading Workshop 
Students will:
  • learn and use various strategies to decode words
  • understand how to read with a partner
  • retell for comprehension
  • build our reading stamina

Math
Students will be introduced to:
  • The concept of What's my rule
  • Revise frames and arrows


STEM 
Students will investigate and answer the following focus question - What is a solid?  Write the meaning of rigid, flexible, pointy, hard, soft & transparent.
